The International Seminar on Religious Education and Values (ISREV) is pleased to announce its 25th session, which will take place from 25–30 July 2027 at the Institute of Education, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Poland. The seminar will be organised under the theme “The Relevance of Religious and Values Education for the Individual and Society Today.”

The 2027 seminar will provide an international forum for scholars and researchers to explore the contemporary significance of religious and values education in increasingly secular and worldview-diverse societies. The conference theme addresses pressing challenges facing individuals and communities today, including social media influences, mental health concerns, migration, ecological crises, political conflicts, and the search for meaning and belonging among young people.

Participants will be invited to examine how religious and values education can contribute to human flourishing, ethical development, intercultural understanding, and democratic citizenship. The seminar welcomes conceptual, empirical, and methodological contributions from sociological, philosophical, theological, and educational perspectives.

The event will feature a distinguished group of plenary speakers:

  • Petro du Preez, Department of Curriculum Studies, Stellenbosch University, South Africa
  • Patricia Hannam, School of Education, University of Exeter, United Kingdom
  • Hanan Alexander, Centre for Jewish Studies, University of California, Berkeley, USA
  • Mariusz Chrostowski, Faculty of Theology, Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, Germany

As ISREV celebrates its 25th session, the seminar continues its longstanding tradition of fostering international dialogue and scholarly exchange on religious and values education. The 2027 gathering in Toruń promises to offer a valuable opportunity for researchers, educators, and practitioners to reflect on the role of education in addressing contemporary societal challenges and supporting individual and collective well-being.
